FIRST, or For the Inspiriation and Recogntion of Science and Technology, is an organization which is dedicated to inspiring young individuals to become the next generation of engineers. Towards this goal, they host various robotics competitions annually for different age groups, JFLL for elementary school studentd, FLL for middle school students, and the FRC and FTC for high school students.

Our team has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition, or FRC, for over 10 years. We hope to continue to further the cause of FIRST and help the young minds in our area discover engineering.

The FRC occurs annually. Teams like ourselves construct a robot, which usually ends up about 6 ft. tall and weighs up to 120 pounds. Robots are usually constructed out of aluminum, use a high-grade 12 volt lead acid battery and a sophisticated control system given by FIRST. The design of the robot is up to the teams, and depends on the nature of the competition. We compete with about 50 other teams every year and score in the top fourth.
